Crooning with tender emotion, Dylan floats through the Sinatra songbook on this gently swinging companion to 2015’s <i>Shadows in the Night</i>. Like its predecessor, <i>Fallen Angels</i> is filled with rootsy renditions of standards (“Skylark,” "Come Rain or Come Shine") and some obscure gems (Peter DeRose and Billy Hill’s “On a Little Street in Singapore”). But even when Dylan glides through something as familiar as “That Old Black Magic,” the intimate setting and his effortless delivery make it a refreshing delight.
