Thirteen years after their last album, Busted ditch pop-punk and reemerge as a slick synth trio. Like the album’s LA-at-dusk artwork, “New York”’s gloomy electro pulse might have been pulled from a Michael Mann movie, while “On What You’re On”’s robo-disco is so convincing it could be Daft Punk. Largely though <i>Night Driver</i> is electronic pop buoyed by an injection of funk and the one artefact they’ve shrewdly salvaged from their past: a knack for unshakeable tunes.
