About
Dissatisfied with 2016’s vitriolic T.C.R. EP, Sleaford Mods motormouth Jason Williamson resolved to move on from spontaneous ranting on this LP. Andrew Fearn’s austere beats still hammer away relentlessly, but hooks have crept into their sardonic dispatches from Brexit Britain (“Army Nights,” “Snout”), and a more pensive tone suits Williamson as he skewers corporate greed on “B.H.S.” “I Feel So Wrong” even evokes a no-budget Massive Attack with simmering paranoia and a sung—sung!—chorus.
