While serving with Hot Chip and The 2 Bears, Joe Goddard has always understood that nuanced, inventive dance music needn’t sacrifice compelling beats and melodies. That continues on a second solo album that draws richly on the history of club culture. Detroit techno and disco mesh euphorically (“Home”), wonky pop sinks into warehouse bliss (“Electric Lines”), and 2-step becomes a vessel for tenderness (“Truth Is Light”).
