About
As the '70s progressed, so did vibraphonist Roy Ayers’ Ubiquity ensemble, a band that capably infused jazz with funk (and vice versa), found the soul in disco, and generally navigated the pop music landscape with a fusionist’s eye for connection. One of two albums the ensemble released in 1975, Mystic Voyage packages the tightly written, handclap-backed "Life Is Just a Moment, Pt. 2" and the sauntering, bass-heavy, group-sung "A Wee Bit" alongside the exploratory, spacious, and synthy "Take All the Time You Need" and the hard-hitting "Spirit of Doo Do."
