About

For all of Bonnie Raitt's adventurous, genre-hopping '70s LPs, Sweet Forgiveness may be the one that rocks the hardest. "Three Time Loser" and "Gamblin’ Man" both chug along on distorted guitars and Raitt’s stormy, commanding vocals, while the title track opens with a riff as bluesy as the song's lovelorn lyrics. There are plenty of surprises as well, such as a harmonica-powered, swamp-funk take on Del Shannon’s ”Runaway" that’s as heavy and rootsy as it is irresistible.
