Abandoning the quirky indie pop that once defined her, Natalia Lafourcade continues paying singularly hushed and hauntingly gorgeous tribute to Latin folk music on the second volume of <i>Musas</i>. Still collaborating with acoustic guitar duo Los Macorinos, her sound has become even more radically intimate and immersive, building lovely and lovelorn ballads like "Alma Mía" around just hypnotically picked melodies and whisper-soft vocals. But though the mood is generally more mournful this time, Lafourcade can't help indulging in her old whimsy, especially with the bittersweet shuffle of Brazilian-tinged tunes like "Duerme Negrito."
