Led by Hampshire trumpeter and composer Laura Jurd, Dinosaur are a dazzlingly confident contemporary jazz quartet. Quite right, too: <i>Together, As One</i> demands constant attention, changing direction before you’ve had a chance to see the path ahead. Twisting and turning, the tempo refuses to stay put. The endlessly energetic and sci-fi tinged “Living, Breathing” is tremendous fun, while “Awakening” and “Primordial” intertwine playful keyboard textures with masterful trumpeting. Unpredictable, joyous and jazz not as you know it.
