About
Kasabian’s third album is about pomp and confidence. Their post-rave mix of hip-hop beats, low-slung ‘70s funk, and the everyman idealism of classic rock has been embellished with kosmische synth swoops (“Swarfiga”), spaghetti western atmospherics (“Fire”), and the sweet redemption of gospel (“Happiness”). These sonic explorations go into making barnstorming rave-rock like “Where Did All the Love Go?” and tart Kinks-y pop on “Thick As Thieves”—the hallmark of a band keen to bash musical ideas together just to watch the sparks fly.
