About

A wildly successful trumpet player, music producer, and record label executive (he co-founded A&M Records), Herb Alpert has been steadily recording since 1962. He's racked up more than 25 gold or platinum releases, taken home eight GRAMMY® Awards, performed at the Super Bowl, and at one time had four different albums in the top ten of the Billboard album chart. After early success with his concept group The Tijuana Brass (best known for the classic Whipped Cream & Other Delights), Alpert put out a slew of high-quality solo albums throughout the '70s and '80s. On 1982's Fandango, he revisits the Latin stylings of his TJB days, working with the likes of Juan Carlos Calderon, Jose Quintana, and Roberto Carlos. The resulting mostly instrumental record remains much-loved by fans new and old, and it features one of his last big hits, "Route 101."
