Santa Barbara’s progenitors of sunshine reggae since the mid-’00s, Iration effortlessly straddle the lines between roots, rock, and dub on <i>Time Bomb</i>. Synth effects give the laidback groove of “Dream” a surprising spaciness, while dub sounds bring a jolt of intensity to the slow-burning “Coming Your Way.” Lead vocalist Micah Pueschel’s delivery is so unhurried that even when singing about a ticking time bomb on the title track (in this case a woman, not an actual explosive), Iration’s relaxed sound still comes through.
