About
Hollywood Vampires contains plenty of L.A. Guns’ rollicking glam metal. “Kiss My Love Goodbye” is one of its gems, with Phil Lewis shouting over bucking drums and shrieking axe licks. But a deep sense of weariness also seeps from the album: They sound like a group reeling from one too many parties on “Over the Edge,” a brooding rocker with a Zeppelin-style stomp, and the heartland-infused power ballad “It’s Over Now” is an acknowledgment that stardom is no tonic for loneliness.
