Encounter leans more towards traditional jazz than Flora Purim's other mid-70's albums by including such jazz standards as Chick Corea's "Windows" and "Black Narcissus" by Joe Henderson and featuring jazz legends McCoy Tyner and Ron Carter. The usual collaborators from this period, George Duke, Alphonso Johnson and Ndugu Chancler, also make appearances as well as Polish vocalist Urszula Dudziak. .
