'Throwin' Down' is the sixth studio album by Rick James (featuring The Stone City Band). Released on May 13, 1982 by the Motown owned Gordy Records. Produced by Rick James himself. It contained the singles - "Dance Wit' Me" and "Hard To Get". The album peaked at #13 on the Billboard 200 and was certified Gold by the RIAA. It won an American Music Award for Favorite Soul/R&B Album. Rick couldn't attend the awards show so he sent in a video of him making a song up on the spot thanking the AMA for the award. The album featured Teena .
