Recorded between 1975 and 1982, <i>King David’s Melody</i> captures the roots instrumentalist at his peak. Though best known for his dubs with King Tubby (on <i>King Tubbys Meets Rockers Uptown</i>), Pablo was equally great—if not greater—at straight instrumentals, crafting a mood at once mystical and childlike, searching and inimitably serene, often led by the spectral sound of his melodica.
