About

The debut album of Hope of the States, released 2004, after the suicide of guitarist James Lawrence. Mixes post-rock influences with the melodies and structures of more straightforward rock while riding between utter despair and optimistic hope, grand epics and downstated ballads. Four tracks were released as singles: Black Dollar Bills, Enemies/Friends, The Red the White the Black the Blue and Nehemiah. .
