“I don't do no relaxing,” Rich The Kid says on “Splashin” from <i>The World Is Yours 2</i>. It’s a weird flex to be sure, but not all that hard to believe when you consider the Atlanta MC’s extensive collaborative resume, along with the leaps he’s made in visibility since the days of his <i>Rich Forever</i> compilation mixtapes. Oh, and then there are his responsibilities as head of the Rich Forever record label. But Rich is looking out for number one on <i>The World Is Yours 2</i>, both literally and figuratively—he is aiming squarely for the charts. “On this album it's like I wasn't just making records,” he told Beats 1’s Zane Lowe. “I'm making hit records back to back to back. You might have somebody drop an album that only have one or two hits. You've never seen an album with this many hit records on it.” Not since <i>The World Is Yours</i> anyway, whose “New Freezer” with Kendrick Lamar served as a coming-out party of sorts for the rapper. Just like its predecessor, <i>The World Is Yours 2</i> is full of familiar faces: There are tandem features including Young Thug and Gunna (“Fall Threw”), Offset and Big Sean (“Two Cups”), Miguel and Ty Dolla $ign (“Woah”), and Jay Critch and A Boogie wit da Hoodie (“Like Mike”), along with additional appearances from NAV, YoungBoy Never Broke Again, and newcomer Vory. The album’s title may tell us that the world is ours, but if we’re to take anything from the Rich The Kid philosophy, it's that it was also meant to be shared.
