About
As wiggy as rock music could be in 1966, the year may have produced no wilder sound than the Roky Erickson howl that launched “You’re Gonna Miss Me.” The 13th Floor Elevators’ most famous and ferocious song opens this expanded version of the Austin band’s 1966 debut. And while the likes of “Reverberation (Doubt)” blazed a trail for countless garage rock and psychedelic acts, fiery covers of songs by Chuck Berry and Buddy Holly demonstrate the band’s debt to an earlier generation of hell-raisers.
