About
After the gigantic success of The Chronic, Doggy Style, and Dogg Food, the entire hip-hop nation was hypnotized by the sunny sounds of G Funk during the mid-'90s. One of its undisputed architects was Warren G, the man who introduced Snoop to Dr. Dre and also introduced the world to Nate Dogg with their timeless classic "Regulate." Also hailing from Long Beach, The Dove Shack (2Scoops, C-Knight, and Bo-Roc) first appeared on Warren's debut solo album and returned a year later with this, their own first album. As expected, the production is all deep bass grooves, wheezing keyboards, and extra-catchy beats, while the emcees rhyme pretty much exclusively about smoking, sippin', shooting, scoring, and repping for the Eastside of the LBC. While it never reached that classic status of its predecessors, this is still a fantastic album; it's a nice time warp for older heads who fondly remember that brief moment when G Funk ruled the world. Check out "This Is the Shack," "Summertime in the LBC," and "F*ck Da Mouth."
