About
Red House Painters released four incredible albums in the ‘90s before things fell apart, leaving singer Mark Kozelek effectively alone to record the 1996 LP Songs for a Blue Guitar. Bridging to their earlier works with emotional numbers like “Have You Forgotten” and “Trailways,” Kozelek balanced everything perfectly here; covers like “All Mixed Up” (The Cars) and “Silly Love Songs” (Paul McCartney) saw Kozelek taking off in a new direction, electric and pensive. Band or no, Songs for a Blue Guitar is vintage Kozelek.
