About

Rambunctious even by Black Lips standards, this 2007 live album finds the band in Tijuana, Mexico. Recorded by underground punk hero John Reis, it captures their bratty catchiness and carefree silliness as much as their blackened garage crunch. But the carnivalesque atmosphere doesn’t dampen the group vocals of “Sea of Blasphemy,” and “Buried Alive” is another after-hours exorcism of heady Stones and Cramps vibes. The whole thing roils and rambles like an outsized Day of the Dead party spilling back into the underworld.
