About
Pangaea is one of two live albums recorded on February 1, 1975 at the Osaka Festival Hall in Japan by Miles Davis and his accompanying band. Pangaea consists of two 40 minute group improvisations entitled, "Zimbabwe" and, "Gondwana". These pieces titles come from the names of the ancient super continents of early Earth. The album, for the most, part is led by Pete Cosey (Electric Guitar), Michael Henderson (Electric Bass), and Al Foster (Drums), who create the majority of the aural experience. Miles usually tinges the grooves with Trumpet- Wah, or with an Organ, but he does have some solos .
