About

A lesser-known gem from the Bob Ezrin (Alice Cooper, Pink Floyd) production queue is this 1980 debut from Canada’s Kings. Led by “The Beat Goes On” and the should’ve–been–No. 1 anthem “Switching to Glide,” the set covers a terrain of well-arranged, well-wrought rock and pop. There’s perfect power pop (“Don’t Let Me Know,” “Run Shoes Running,” “Right to the Top”), a hummable ditty worthy of early Joe Jackson (“It’s Okay”), some knuckle-raising arena rock (“Go Away,” “Partyitis”), and an Alice Cooper sound-alike (“Love Store”). This set also includes five additional songs not on the original album.
