It was released by J Records on 10 June 2003 in the United States and serves as the follow-up to his self-titled album "Luther Vandross" (2001). The album, particularly its title track, was dedicated to Vandross’s father, Luther Vandross Sr. Production was handled by Nat Adderley Jr., Shep Crawford, and Marcus Miller, and the album features guest appearances by Beyoncé, the R&B trio Next, and rappers Foxy Brown, Queen Latifah, and Busta Rhymes.
