"When Dream and Day Unite" is the debut studio album by the American progressive metal band Dream Theater, released on 6 March 1989 through Mechanic/MCA Records. The album consists largely of material developed during the group’s early period under the name Majesty, and it is the only Dream Theater album recorded with their original full line-up, featuring vocalist Charlie Dominici. He was replaced by James LaBrie on subsequent releases. The band was formed in 1985 by John Myung, Mike Portnoy, and John Petrucci while they were students at Berklee College of Music.
