A tour with their Dirtee Stank label boss Dizzee Rascal reminded Newham Generals that grime’s origins are in dance music and that thought drove the construction of this debut album. <i>Generally Speaking</i>is designed to ignite dancefloors without sacrificing grime’s steely bullishness. “Mind Is a Gun” is a rush of breakbeats and rave synths, “Movin’” applies an accordion to body-shaking hip-hop, and “Heard You Been Smokin’” makes space for some cock-eyed experimentation among the warm grooves.
