About
A highlight of Ninja Tune's first decade, Mr. Scruff's second album tackles the same range of styles for which his marathon DJ sets are famous: a mix of soul, hip-hop, and jazz instrumentals with a light, easygoing vibe. Scruff flirts with all manner of tempos, from slowed-down house ("Cheeky") to laidback hip-hop ("So Long," "Travelogue"), but it's the silky melodies and light-hearted samples that make this perfect for the acid-jazz set. Standouts include the flapper grooves of "Get a Move On!" and "Jusjus," featuring amped-up rapping from Roots Manuva.
