About

Not so long ago, when boy bands and rap rock ruled the roost — few pop music fans could foresee a day when Matchbox Twenty’s efforts would be collected in a greatest hits package. That day is here, with the release of Exile On Mainstream. The group has survived multiple trends using a simple formula: honesty. Despite its sunny compositions, Matchbox Twenty addresses serious topics (“3AM” is inspired by singer Rob Thomas’ mother’s battle with cancer and “Push” is about emotional abuse). Its fans have appreciated the group’s candidness and responded by vaulting the band to arena status.
