About

Released in 1977, Richard Clapton’s Goodbye Tiger is a late treasure of the classic rock era. The mood is captured in the title track, a haunting self-portrait written as a beautiful piece of faded country-rock. Clapton channels Van Morrison, Thin Lizzy, and Bob Dylan in “Wild Child” and “Deep Water,” a pair of slippery, sweeping barroom romps. Meanwhile, “Out on the Edge Again” samples the reckless thrills of punk. Tough-skinned but twinkling, “Wintertime in Amsterdam” and “Babe Rainbow” are as enchanting as a starlight ride down Australia’s desolate back roads.
