Continuing the trend he started with <i>El Mariel</i>, Pitbull references Cuban immigration tactics with the title of this third LP, <i>The Boatlift</i>. This is far from a political lecture, however. Jam-packed with guests and produced by Pitbull faves like Lil Jon and Mr. Collipark, the record overflows with hedonistic crunk anthems squarely aimed at dancefloors. "Go Girl" is a bumping bit of minimalist club fodder, while the frisky single "The Anthem" contains the album's most lasting hook. For all its decadent ambition, though, <i>The Boatlift</i> feels low-key next to the bangers that would bring Pitbull his biggest success on his subsequent albums.
