When short-listing George Strait albums, this 1987 classic will always be in the top tier, and for good reason. Most obviously, it contains Strait milestones like the neo-honky-tonk anthem "All My Ex's Live In Texas," the Western swing-inflected "Am I Blue" (featuring Bob Wills' fiddler Johnny Gimble), and the irony-laden, George Jones-esque title track. But even beyond the biggies, twang-slathered hard-country tunes like "Hot Burning Flames" and "My Heart Won't Wander Very Far From You" stand among the finest songs Strait has ever written.
