Heart’s 1976 debut established sisters Ann and Nancy Wilson as masters of manic riffing and spectral harmonies. Opening track “Magic Man” shimmies and coaxes, its mystical vibe adding a spark to Ann’s tale of falling under a lover’s spell; “Soul of the Sea” is an ethereal folk-rock exploration anchored by Ann’s forceful vocal. “Crazy on You,” the storming anthem that backs up Ann’s fierce vocal with an acoustic-electric guitar arsenal, combines the prog and the pop into a winding, high-voltage sing-along.
