About

Of all the many studious revivalists of ‘60s pop, few are as good as Outrageous Cherry mastermind Matthew Smith at paying homage to the past while crafting songs that feel alive and thrilling in the present. On the Detroit band’s 2005 album, Smith excels at everything from the exuberant, brass-filled pop of “Pretty Girls Go Insane” to the sunny, Lovin’ Spoonful-worthy jangle of “Why Don’t We Talk About Something Else” before capping it off with “Calling,” an Oasis classic that the Gallaghers forgot to write.
