Produced by Thomas Dolby, the album is widely regarded as the band's masterpiece and a defining release of the sophisticated pop genre. It built upon the promise of their debut, Swoon, replacing that record's jagged complexity with a lush, spacious soundscape that perfectly complemented Paddy McAloon's intricate songwriting.
