About

For his first post-Magazine project, Howard Devoto wrote and recorded his 1983 solo album entitled "Jerky Versions of the Dream". The album involved at least two former Magazine members (Dave Formula and Barry Adamson) as well as some notable session musicians such as Gary Barnacle (notable for his later work on Bjork's 1993 album "Debut"). "Dream" was recorded very much in the vein of 80s synthpop, and today sounds a bit dated. However, Devoto's timeless lyrical and musical sense shines through. "Dream" was originally intended to be performed by a female vocalist, which may explain the heavy use of Laura .
