About

In the early ‘70s, Hall & Oates were still searching for their breakout sound, which led them to teaming up with producer/songwriter Todd Rundgren for this 1974 album. Veering away from the duo’s soulful roots, War Babies explores a prog-rock style that’s singular in their catalog. They concoct some searing glam grooves on “Beanie G. and the Rose Tattoo,” get into spacey, swirling funk on “70’s Scenario,” and strike a woozy balance between noisy effects and muscular rhythms on the epic “Screaming Through December.”
