When the world’s most renowned Jewish songwriter became a born-again Christian, it was big news. But the albums celebrating that shift are just as notable for the depth of Dylan’s expression as for their spiritual stance. The second of them, <i>Saved</i>, opens with Dylan’s intensely emotional take on the classic country gospel tune “A Satisfied Mind,” but that cut is quickly followed by self-penned songs of faith every bit as impassioned, from the fervent stomp of the title track to the downright hymn-like “Saving Grace.”
