About
Born on 17 February 1942 in Gevelsberg (Germany), Klaus Weiss was in the late 50s and 60s, one of the few experienced jazz drummers who were taken and accepted seriously by the American colleagues and role models. Like his long-time companion Sepp Werkmeister remembers today, Klaus Weiss was the only European drummer with American feeling and therefore not only among American colleagues sought after and popular. His experienced, competent and inimitable play led not only to the fact that he managed numerous big band projects, but also with the likes of Cecil Bridgewater, Johny Griffin and Herbie Mann on stage. .
