About
Modal Soul is Nujabes' second album, released on November 11, 2005. It comes after what was a highly successful 2004 for Nujabes, notably producing both the opener and closer for the wildly popular anime Samurai Champloo. Modal Soul is a combination of hip-hop and jazz, and while the hip-hop influences still exist, most noticeably in the feature department, the album is more jazz-focused than its predecessor. The cast of features is largely unchanged from Metaphorical Music, but there are new ones. Terry Callier and Nujabes come together for a re-imagining of Callier's popular "Ordinary Joe," rapper Apani B delivers appreciative .
