About

Mastodon’s Live At the Aragon provides a clear glimpse into the band’s Crack the Skye tour, capturing one full show in Chicago, warts and all. They deviate slightly from their studio recordings—the massive guitar solo from “The Last Baron” gets even more time for some especially vicious squalls, and they end with a sludgy crushing of the Melvins’ “The Bit.” The prelude to the finale, “Mother Puncher,” offers glitchy breakneck shredding that will leave you knocked out.
