Indie pop has found its quirkiest dynamic duo in singer/songwriters Thao & Mirah. Throw coproducer Merrill Garbus of tUnE-yArDs into the mix, and every sound gets turned on its head. Garbus' kitchen-sink approach is best realized on the clickety-clacking "Eleven" and the jazzy jumble of "Rubies and Rocks." But it's the contrast between Thao's peppy, propulsive folk-pop on tracks like "Squareneck" and Mirah's feathery coos—which softly soar like birdsong at sunrise on acoustic meditation "Little Cup"—that finds beautiful harmony.
