Helmed by Grammy Award-winning producer Charlie Peacock, it was released on February 1, 2011, and became the #1 downloaded album on iTunes that same week. It also charted at #1 on the Billboard Digital Albums chart, #12 on the US Billboard 200, #2 on the Billboard Folk Albums chart, and #3 on the Billboard Rock Albums chart. Barton Hollow" was released as the first single from the album on January 10, 2011. It was performed on The Tonight Show with Jay Leno on January 14, 2011. .
