About

Buckcherry’s second album, from 2001, didn’t match the commercial heights of their debut—but like AC/DC and Mötley Crüe before them, they showed fans that there was little reason to stray from musical tradition. Aside from two ballads (“You” and “Open My Eyes”), the album is utterly relentless. The band suckerpunch their way through trashy road yarns and sleazy broken hearts with uncanny metal cocksureness. “Porno Star” is purposely loveless-sounding, while “Slammin’” and “Whiskey in the Morning” hit hard-rock sweet spots. “Riding” rewrites their massive hit “Lit Up,” and that’s a good thing; there’s no reason to fix what ain’t broken.
