In 2018, Benny the Butcher and his fellow New York street spitter 38 Spesh teamed up for <i>Stabbed & Shot</i>, an album that became a fan favorite as Benny found himself on a bigger stage thanks to his affiliation with the Griselda boys from his hometown of Buffalo. Fast-forward to 2024, and the state of Griselda is more nebulous, but Benny and Spesh’s relationship is as strong as ever on the second edition of <i>Stabbed & Shot</i>. Benny’s monumental 2024 included the projects <i>Everybody Can’t Go</i>, <i>Summertime Butch</i>, and <i>Buffalo Butch, Vol. 1.</i>. <i>STABBED & SHOT 2</i> is a victory lap, a reminder of why he’s become one of the most celebrated spitters in gangster rap. Despite sharing the stage with Spesh, Benny opens up his diary and allows his fans to look in. It’s this honesty that’s helped shape his special year. On “High Stakes,” he outlines his psyche, spitting: “This my life inside a rage/Let me show y’all what it’s like behind the stage/Because in rap, the pay cycle ninety days/Between that, the streets moving, most likely, I’ll be paid.”
