Hard to believe that it's been over a decade since Denver eardrum destroyers Cephalic Carnage first hit the scene with their debut album <i>Conforming To Abnormality</i>. Now on album number six, they're still as rugged as ever, churning out their one-of-a-kind blend of technically tight, hyper-harsh grindcore-meets-death metal, served with a healthy dose of humor and sprinkled with completely unexpected musical change-ups, be it through subtle sound effects, jazzy strum breakdowns, or a surprise sax appearance. Though this is their first release without guitarist Zac Joe, they don't seem to miss him, and while it may not be quite as over-the-top as their much-loved <i>Xenosapien</i>, it will undoubtedly satisfy open-minded metalheads looking for some next-level mayhem. Standout tracks include "The Incorrigable Flame" and "Dimensional Modulation Transmography."
