The French electro wizards indulge their greatest prog-rock fantasies on this ambitious 2011 sophomore album. "Horsepower" gallops in with feverish metallic guitars and retro synths locked and loaded, and the duo's disco fever soon heats up on "Civilization," melting the jarring crunch of their earlier work into Ali Love's synthesized (and slightly possessed) vocals. The funk fully forms among the layered, wavering harmonies and harpsichords of "Ohio," while sticky dance grooves sizzle with bursts of Italo disco on the title track and "Helix."
