About
The Great Escape Artist represents the awakening of a sleeping giant. Perry Farrell, Dave Navarro and Stephen Perkins are joined by TV on the Radio’s Dave Sitek, bassist Chris Chaney and producer Rich Costey (Muse, Radiohead) to record Jane’s Addiction’s first studio album since 2003. Costey and Sitek summon the muscular force of Navarro and Perkins on “Words Right Out of My Mouth”, “Underground” and “Twisted Tales”. On “Irresistible Force” and “Curiosity Kills”, the band artfully construct a symphony of accelerating, dive-bombing guitar and trance-inducing bass and drums. Guided by the keening howl of its frontman—part showman, part shaman Perry Farrell—the group that once found beauty in rock ’n’ roll’s dark side breaks from the past to carve a new, exciting future with this album.
