About

After the dissolution of Meg & Dia (a duo with her sister), Dia Frampton went solo. Her debut album, Red, picks up where she left off as second runner-up for the 2011 season of NBC’s The Voice: test-driving her vocal cords with a myriad of commercial-friendly musical genres. Kid Cudi lends his laidback rhyming style to the opening cut, “Don’t Kick the Chair”; it's an uplifting slice of polished indie pop with melodies catchier than a TV jingle. “Isabella” shifts gears to drive a rootsy folk-pop number with banjo, glockenspiel, and propulsive rhythms. Blake Shelton (Frampton’s coach on The Voice) joins her on the heartfelt country-pop duet “I Will,” where dramatic countrypolitan string arrangements help turn it into an insta-hit of Nashvegas proportions. She switches things up yet again with “Billy the Kid,” a quirky dance-club jam in the spirit of Lady GaGa. Frampton even takes on a singer/songwriter role with “Daniel,” an acoustic coffeehouse-style ditty.
