About
Though here they returned to a heavier sound, the Ramones managed not to forgo the ‘60s pop inspiration that flowed through their earlier albums. Subterranean Jungle opens with a cover of the 1967 hit “Little Bit O’ Soul,” cranked up with crunchier, clashing guitars. “My My Kind Of Girl” is the classic Ramones love song, Joey crooning his adoration from afar while a soft harmony crawls underneath the vocals. There’s still room for headbanging: “Time Bomb” is a two-minute romp of machine-gun drums.
