About
There’s no Christian artist more qualified to record modern worship songs than Rebecca St. James. Years before it became trendy, the Australian singer/songwriter praised her Creator with industrial pop ballads and smoldering dance tracks. Here St. James puts her own stamp on such outstanding compositions as Marie Barnett’s “Breathe,” Jeremy Casella’s “More Than the Watchman” and Marc Byrd and Steve Hindalong’s “God of Wonders.” “Above All” sparkles with acoustic guitar and ‘80s-esque techno beats, while “Quiet You With My Love” is accented by a string quartet. What makes Worship God come alive though are Rebecca’s distinctive vocal moves, often shifting from breathy lows to full-throttle highs within a single song. She shows off her range to full advantage on her own “Song of Love” and a striking revamping of the 19th Century hymn “It is Well.” Worship God is a powerful expression of faith, sung with the unbridled fervor Rebecca has made her trademark.
